P.Oxy. XLV 3236

Rhetorical Declamation

ed. M. W. Haslam

EES: Papyrology Room, Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

The speech in the person of Demosthenes is directed against Aeschines with an implicit exhortation to to the Athenians to uphold their tradition of honour and self-sacrifice with reference to Miltiades and Themistocles. There is an apparent allusion to the 'wooden wall' Salamis oracle in the second fragment.
