P.Oxy. XLV 3239

Alphabetic 'Glossary'

ed. M. E. Weinstein

EES: Papyrology Room, Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

Originally complete in three columns, an alphabetical list of definitions, which does not seem to be based on an acrostic principle nor a particular poem, nor a school piece, nor used for a magical purpose. It nevertheless defines, for example, 'mouse' as 'vainglorious' and 'bathing attendant' as 'rotten-faced'. Written on the back of two documents.
