My research interests lie in the application of contemporary sociolinguistics to the ancient world and the integration of linguistics and archaeology to write socio-cultural history. I am principal investigator of the Latinization of the North-Western Provinces ERC- funded project (2017-2023) and co-Director of the Romano-British Writing Tablet Academy Research Project (2023-2028). From 2008 to 2011 I was a Lumley Research Fellow, at Magdalene College, Cambridge and then a post-doctoral research fellow at All Souls College, Oxford, from 2011 to 2015. In 2017 I was elected as a Fifty-Pound Fellow at All Souls College and I received a Philip Leverhulme Prize for Classics in 2018.
