Nino Luraghi is the Wykeham Professor of Ancient Greek History and Fellow New College. He has broad interests in the field of social and cultural history. He has worked on the practice and ideology of Greek tyranny, on ethnicity, especially in the Peloponnese, on Greek historiography, and on the origin of the Greek alphabet. Most recently, he has been focusing on the cultural history of early Hellenistic Athens. He has a special interest in folktale and the sociology of popular narrative. He is also the Director of the Lexicon of Greek Personal Names.
